Myron "Mickey Henry Sterkenburg

June 30th, 1955 - April 19th, 2024

Myron Henry Sterkenburg lovingly called “Mickey” by those close to him was born on June 30, 1955 to Jean and Lee Roy Sterkenburg in Pierre, South Dakota. At a young age they moved to Sioux Falls along with his 5 brothers. They regularly went to church where he found his love for God. He graduated from Riggs Highschool in 1974,  joined the Marines and was stationed at Okinawa, Japan as a Motor Vehicle Mechanic. He was very proud to serve his country. After four years of service he moved to California where he worked for several years before moving to Boise, Idaho in 1987. He then married his first wife Jolene and had two kids Jeremy and Melissa. On November 29th,1996  Mickey married the love of his life Edith Anderson and together they had one son Michael. He enjoyed spending time with his three children by taking them fishing and enjoying time outdoors. Mickey especially loved taking Michael in the semi on his cross country long hauls as much as possible. He worked many years as a truck driver for RST, until his retirement in August of 2020. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling with Edith after retirement. He also devoted a lot of time to taking care of their land and home. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, numerous nieces, nephews, and greats. Mickey was always a major helping hand for close family when they needed it. He died peacefully at his home on Thursday April 19th surrounded by his wife and family.

 

He is survived by his wife Edith Sterkenburg of Marsing, Idaho, brothers Bob Sterkenburg of Renick Valley, West Virginia, Jeff Sterkenburg of Costa Mesa, California, a son Jeremy Sterkenburg, along with numerous other family members

 

He is proceeded in death by his son Michael Sterkenburg, daughter Melissa Sterkenburg, brothers Doug, Terry, and Kevin Sterkenburg and many other loved ones.

 

Mickey had a profound sense of love and duty for Edith, family and friends . His loss will be felt immensely and he will be greatly missed by all.
