Nadine E. Holgate (Lasch) of Syracuse died on Friday June 28, 2024. Nadine was born in Superior Wisconsin on April 2, 1928. Nadine spent much of her life in New York State with most of her childhood spent in the Finger Lakes areas of Geneva and Elmira. Nadine eventually moved to Boston, MA, where she worked as a glass engraver at Filene’s department store. In 1946 she met the love of her life Thomas A. Holgate Sr. and married him on September 23, 1946. Tom and Nadine eventually moved to Syracuse where they lived the remainder of their lives.

Nadine’s most cherished role was that as a wife and mother. Nadine and Tom shared nearly 70 years as husband and wife; together they raised 4 children. Nadine cared deeply for her catholic faith, family, friends and neighbors. In addition, she enjoyed crocheting and typing her husband many letters and papers, when she was not spending time with her children or grandchildren.

Nadine was predeceased by her husband Thomas, infant daughter Nancy Ann Holgate, and son Timothy M. Holgate. 

Nadine is survived by her son Thomas A. Holgate Jr. and his wife Mary Ellen of Syracuse with whom she lived with recently, and daughters, Nadine Vannelli (Joseph) of Mesa AZ, and Maureen Tiano-Gooch (Richard) of Nappa CA, daughter-in-law Shiela Holgate, along with a large contingent of grandchildren and great grandchildren and her devoted Chihuahua, Stardust.

There will be no calling hours. A funeral mass with be celebrated Tuesday July 2, at 10:30AM at St. Michael & St. Peters Church 4871 W. Seneca Tpk. Syracuse. Private burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital One Children’s Circle Syracuse, NY 13210.
