Nagarathna Nanjappa

Nagarathna (Nagu) Nanjappa 1945-2016 Nagarathna (Nagu) Nanjappa, a longtime resident of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 after a three-year long battle with cancer. Originally from Bangalore, India, Nagu lived in Buffalo, NY and Flint, MI before moving to the Charlotte area in 1994. Nagu worked as a medical technician and supervisor for the Red Cross Blood Bank for nearly thirty years. She was an ardent volunteer for the Hindu Center of Charlotte and other community organizations. A passionate gardener, cook and cat-lover, Nagu enjoyed feeding a large circle of family, friends and the community with food from her kitchen and flowers from her gardens. Nagu is survived by her son, Divya Nanjappa of Key West, FL, brothers Gowri Shankar (Seattle, WA), Lakshmi Kanth and Sathya Prakash (Bangalore, India), a large extended family and a larger community of friends in Bangalore, North Carolina, Michigan and elsewhere. Her family is grateful for the loving care that Nagu received from the medical staff of the Levine Cancer Institute and the staff and volunteers of the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Charlotte. Her family is especially grateful to Ms. Diane Wegba for providing the best care imaginable as Nagu lived out her life in her own house.
