Nanci Rentz-Knapp

Nanci Rentz-Knapp, 66, of Sewell, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2024.  

 Legacy 

Nanci was born in Camden New Jersey, to the late Joseph and Anne (nee Shivers) Rentz.  She was a 1976 graduate of Eastern Regional H.S. in Voorhees, NJ.  Nanci worked at XEROX Corp. for 22 years, rising to the level of Service Manager.  In 2002 she partnered with her husband John as co-owner of Hayes Handpiece of South Jersey, serving the local dental community until their retirement in 2021.   

Nanci looked forward to, and always enjoyed family gatherings for any occasion or no occasion at all.  She filled free time solving a variety of puzzles, crossword, sudoku and cryptograms not merely to finish but to finish before her husband and making sure that he knew it. Nanci enjoyed time at the Jersey Shore and vacations in the Florida Keys. She tolerated frequent unproductive fishing trips, even suggesting that their boat be named “Wasting Bait”. We rarely let a smelly old fish ruin a nice day on the water.  

 She was a lifelong learner, researching topics ranging from insects to politics.  Her niece Jenn was her “go-to” person for her opinions on Art, decor and what she could pass off as “Sewell chic”.  She rooted for all Philly sports teams, but was a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan. 

She faced her many challenges with optimism and determination, thanked God for every day and always kindly asked for another. 

She is survived by husband John Knapp, siblings: Jo-Ann Dougherty (Chuck), Linda O’Brien (Jim), June Lacatena (Frank), Jeffrey Rentz (Earleen) and Joseph Rentz (Barbara).  Stepchildren: Sean Knapp, Brian Knapp and Katie McMenamin.  10 step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews whose friends also affectionately referred to her as “Aunt Nanci.”  Predeceased by brother Edward Rentz (Marian) and her parents. 

Farewell Tribute 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Thursday, October 17th from 8:30AM-10:15AM in the McGuinness Funeral Home - Washington Township Location, 573 Egg Harbor Road, Sewell, New Jersey 08090. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00AM - Mary, Mother of Mercy Parish at Our Lady of Lourdes Church; located at 500 Greentree Rd, Glassboro. Interment will be at a later date.
