Nancy Lee Benson

Nancy Lee Benson, a former auditor for the state of Washington and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) passed in her home in Maricopa, Arizona at the age of 84 on October 11, 2021. Nancy was born July 15, 1937 in DeKalb, Illinois to John (Jack) and Ingeletta Edgar, who later moved to Grotto, Washington. She graduated Skykomish High School in her class of five, and then attended Washington State University. While working at the cafeteria there, she met Kenneth and they married in November 1957. Ken and Nancy had four children - Jill (Mike) Balcombe, of Spanaway, WA, Wendy Benson of La Jolla, CA, Stephen Benson who tragically passed away in 2014, and Michael (Sue) Benson of West Point, NY. She is survived by her husband Ken and her 3 children, Wendy, Jill and Michael along with her six grandchildren - Kyle Benson of Eagle River, AK, and Samuel, Sarah, Abigail, Rachel, and Luke Benson of West Point, NY, and three siblings - Kenneth Edgar and Carol Towne of Everett, WA and Dianne Lowe of Burlington, WA, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Nancy finished her Bachelor of Science degree at Central Washington University and became a CPA after getting all her kids through their middle school educations. She was a tremendous planner and friend to many she met - maintaining relationships for decades and coordinating weeks of timeshares across the country in the places she and Ken enjoyed visiting. She was the matriarch of the Benson family in so many positive ways and a shining example of a citizen who lived her life in freedom without compromise. Her steadfast faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior secures her place with Him in heaven where so many will reunite with her one day soon.
