Nancy Lee Cooper
October 4th, 2013
Nancy Lee Cooper, 77, passed away peacefully on October 4th, 2013, at her home in Arlington, VA after a brief illness with cancer. She was born on December 31, 1935 in Washington, DC to William and Valora Cooper, of Arlington, VA. Nancy started her career as a switchboard operator, but a life of adventure called her to head out west, where she worked in the hotel industry in Montana; served as a flight attendant with Frontier Airlines; and worked on several cruise ships out of California. More recently, locals may remember her from her work at Scoops Beauregard—a neighborhood ice cream shop. A talented musician, Nancy graduated from Shasta College in 1977 with a degree in music. In 2002, she married Geoge Wnek, of Alexandria, VA, who preceded her in death in 2008. Nancy loved to travel. She enjoyed singing, playing guitar, karaoke, and being outside. She is survived by her sister, Betty Jane Hardesty Lawson, 89, of Chula Vista, California.
