Nancy Lee King
June 24th, 1957 - August 5th, 2012
Nancy King lost her courageous battle with cancer August 5, 2012. Born to Barbara and Charles DeBolt on June 24, 1957 in Canton, Ohio, she moved to Boise, Idaho at a young age. Nancy attended Lowell Elementary School, North Junior High School and graduated from Boise High School. She married John King and relocated to Tacoma/Lakewood, Washington; she and John were later divorced. Nancy began working as a legal secretary, and later became a paralegal. She worked at various law firms. At the time of her death, she was employed as a paralegal at the Seattle firm of Dearmin and Fogarty, PLLC. Nancy was a valued and treasured part of the Dearmin and Fogarty team. The lights of her life were her two boys, Zak and Mike. She took great pride in their accomplishments; they were truly her world. Nancy was the Seahawks’ biggest 12th Man fan; she could recite any of the team statistics, and would have led the team if given the opportunity. For her 50th birthday, Nancy went skydiving, and fell in love with it. She spoke of skydiving with her niece, Kim, after completing her treatment. Unfortunately, Nancy lost her battle before she was able to go again, but we know she’s skydiving in heaven with the angels. Nancy also loved to spend time with her best friend, her sister Mary. She was a tireless worker, and had an amazingly generous heart, even in the most difficult of times. Nancy was stubborn as a mule, and endlessly positive. She was a devoted, loving mother; Nancy loved her job, insisting on working during the worst of her disease and up to the time of her death. She was truly a valiant soul, and will be greatly missed. Special thanks to all those at Tacoma Multicare Oncology and Radiology for all their compassion and wonderful care. Special thanks also to Paul, Diana, Mary and Laurie at Dearmin and Fogarty for all of their understanding, patience, and generosity as Nancy fought to overcome the cancer. They were right there by her side. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Pat Freitas. She is survived by her sons, Zak and Mike, sister Mary (Dan) Rush of Lakewood, Washington; sister Rena (Russ) Firkins of Boise, Idaho; and brother Roger (Sally) DeBolt of Boise, Idaho; niece Kim Rush and nephew Ben Rush both of Lakewood, Washington; as well as several other nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Nancy will held Oct. 6 at 1:30 pm at the Lakewood Community Center, 9112 Lakewood Drive SW, Lakewood, WA. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Zak and Mike King college fund at any BECU location.
