Nancy L. Strain

Nancy L. Strain May 9, 1932 – February 14, 2024 Nancy L. Strain, 91, of Ocean City, NJ, passed away on February 14, 2024. She was born May 9, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA to parents John & Lucille (Ollick) Novotny. Nancy grew up in the Wissahickon section of Philadelphia. She graduated from Roxborough High School. While cheerleading at a Roxborough High vs. St. John’s football game she met her future husband, Frank. Nancy and Frank were married on September 18, 1954 in Philadelphia and eventually moved to the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. Nancy enjoyed spending her later years in Ocean City, New Jersey. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband Frank, daughters Karen (Randall) Kemmerer, Susan (Alan) Rupprecht and son Francis “Skip” (Colleen) Strain. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Courtney (CJ) Smith, Caroline Kemmerer, Laura Rupprecht, Eric Rupprecht, Colin Strain and Claire Strain and three great-grandchildren: Avery Smith, Ashton Smith and Jadyn Smith. We fondly remember her love of gardening, reading, needlework and days on the beach. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 2900 Olney Sandy Spring Road, Olney, Maryland, 20832 with visitation from 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will be held in Ocean City, New Jersey at a later date.
