NANCY JOYCE STEMPLE WILLIAMS, AURORA NATIVE Nancy Joyce Stemple Williams of Evans, Colorado passed away on January 23, 2023 after a short illness in Banner Hospital in Greeley, Colorado. Nancy was born in Aurora, West Virginia on April 19, 1936 to the late Ezra Paul and Opal Kidwell Stemple. Nancy is survived by brothers Stephen W. Stemple of Elkins, WV and Philip E. Stemple (Marie) of Flemington, NJ., as well as a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Jack Lynn Stemple (Janet), formerly of Herndon, Virginia, and her husband Claude Ray Williams formerly of New Raymer, Colorado. Nancy was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. She graduated from Aurora High School in 1955. Following graduation, Nancy moved to New Jersey for work. She then attended Beauty School and moved to Northern Virginia where she worked as a beautician. In 1973, Nancy married Claude Ray Williams, Retired US Army, whom Nancy had met while living in New Jersey and Ray was stationed at Ft. Dix. Following her marriage Nancy moved with Ray to his home state of Colorado. Upon their retirement, they moved to Ray's family ranch in New Raymer, Colorado, where Nancy and Ray hosted many "Fly-ins"-recreational and social gatherings of pilots and aircraft. They enjoyed the outdoors including camping and riding motorcycles. Nancy lived in New Raymer until Ray's death in 1998. Following Ray's death, Nancy then moved to Evans, Colorado where she made many friendships and especially enjoyed traveling with her best friend Mary Fox and Mary's "Meandering with Mary" Tour Group. Although Nancy did not have any family in Colorado, her friends became her family. Nancy kept in close contact with her school friends from Aurora High School, often attending Class Reunions. She also made a point of maintaining close family ties with her many Stemple and Kidwell cousins, planning and attending a number of family reunions in Blackwater Falls, West Virginia. A Life Celebration for Nancy will be held on Saturday, February 11, at 11:00 am. at Adamson Life Celebration Home followed by a reception. Memorial gifts may be made in Nancy Stemple Williams' name to the “Aurora Cemetery Association” Attn: Jeanette Adams, P.O. Box 7, Aurora, WV 26705 or in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave. Greeley 80634. Nancy's remains will be interred this Spring with her parents in her family's burial plot in Aurora Cemetery, Aurora, West Virginia. Nancy's family is very appreciative of the friendships and support her many friends and neighbors have offered through the years as well as the medical care provided by her doctors, nurses, and therapists. She will be deeply missed.
