Obituary for Nancy Gay Wright Nancy Gay Monroe was born in Kemp, Texas on May 3, 1935. In her late teens, her family moved to Dallas, Texas, and she really enjoyed living in the “big city” and all that this cosmopolitan area had to offer. In 1956, Nancy married Norman “Ed” Wright, also from Dallas, and they decided to move to Denver, Colorado, as Ed had a job offer with Martin Marietta. Nancy loved the change in seasons that Colorado is famous for. She really loved the mountains, taking many car trips on the weekends, due to the proximity of the Rockies to Denver. Nancy and Ed began raising a family, and eventually had four children: Larry, Lori, Julie, and Andy. Nancy indicated, in her biography, that she “considered their births and raising as the most significant thing I have ever accomplished.” Nancy has three grandchildren, Sam Russo (Northglenn, CO), Brooke Walters and Austin Wright (Lexington, KY), and six great-grandchildren all living in Northglenn, CO. She loved interacting with her great-grand children and was always on hand for birthday and holiday celebrations with them. Nancy began working outside of the home in her thirty’s, and held positions with the local school district, City of Northglenn, City of Broomfield, and ultimately retired from AT&T. After retirement, Nancy and Ed were fortunate to be able to travel, and at times would visit their children, as they were living in different locales, and taking many trips around the country to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, and holidays. Nancy’s favorite place to spend vacation was on the Texas Gulf Coast, at Port Aransas. When she was younger, Nancy enjoyed dancing at rhythm and blues clubs, working in downtown Dallas, and later in life taking classes of many sorts, including Bible study, college classes, furniture refinishing, and Tai Chi. Nancy is survived by her four children: Larry (Karyn) Wright, Henderson, NV; Lori (Mike) Hovey, Northglenn, CO; Julie Wright, Westminster, CO; and Andy (Regina) Wright, Lexington, KY. Also surviving her are all three of her younger sisters, Helen Taylor, living in Austin, Texas, Mary Etta Stamper living in Terrell, Texas, and Billie Snider who resides in Dallas, Texas. Nancy also shared in her biography that one of her favorite memories was taking “sister trips” to various locales where they could meet, talk, and just enjoy each other’s company while seeing new and interesting sights. Nancy will be missed dearly by her surviving family and friends.
