Nathan W. Kilgore Jr.
Piney Flats, TN – Nathan (Junior) Kilgore, age 72, entered into rest on Thursday, July 4, 2024, after a period of declining health. He was born in Sullivan County, TN on September 1, 1951, and was the son of the late Nathan Kilgore and Mary Taylor Kilgore.
Nathan was a member of Gate City International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge, #170. While he was able, he loved gardening, farming, hunting and staying at the home place to meet and greet family and friends. Nathan retired after 37 years at TEC, Fibers Division.
In addition to his parents, Nathan was also preceded in death by his daughter, Machell Kilgore; brothers, Freddy, Lindsey, Willie, Larry, Paul, Sammy, and David Kilgore; and an infant sister. Mr. Kilgore is survived by his wife, Kandy Bledsoe Kilgore; sons, William Kilgore III, and Hunter Kilgore and wife Kenzie; granddaughters, Kelsy and Cheynne Kilgore; grandsons, Hudson and Easton Kilgore; great-granddaughter, Kinsly; great-grandsons, Kizer, Neyland, Kohen, and Kaliber; sisters, Ann Easterling, June Collings and husband Gary; sisters-in-law, Nancy Kilgore, Duretta Kilgore, Judy Kilgore, and Mary Ellen Hamilton; mother-in-law, Audrey Bledsoe; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Wilson Kilgore Cemetery; c/o Rita Lane, 374 Compton Hollow Lane, Gate City, VA 24251 or the charity of your choice.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 8, 2024, at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City from 11:00 am to 1:00pm. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with burial immediately after the service at Wilson Kilgore Cemetery at 2:00 pm with Rev. Mickey Gibson officiating. Pallbearers will be Nathan’s nephews, Jim, Robert, Ricky Kilgore, Richard, Greg Easterling, Taylor Bledsoe, Holden Light, and Billy Ketron. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Williams, Austin Compton and Bill Jones.
