Nazieh Khalil Yacoub

Dr. Nazieh Yacoub, son of Mr. Khalil Yacoub Baddah and Mrs. Shahda Maawad Youseef Raheel, went to be with his beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Jun 15th, 2018 in Melbourne, Florida at 11:08 am Eastern time. Nazieh was 85 and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife Yvonne (West), daughter Natalie (Ryan Pugh), granddaughter Isabell Marie, and his brother Dr. Makeen Yacoub (preceded in death his wife Dr. Mavis Yacoub). Preceded in death are his following siblings: Wadie (Isis) Yacoub, Wadiea (Ayad) Hennedy, Marie (Ibrahim) Hennedy, Elaine (Habib) Morcos, Rogeana (Tawfik) Ibrahim, and Josephine (Dr. Morcos) Guirguis. He was born and raised in Egypt and joined the Egyptian Army. Upon completion of his national service to his native country, Dr. Yacoub left his country to pursue furthering his education. In 1966, Dr. Yacoub was accepted into the Colorado School of Mines to study petroleum engineering where he earned is masters. In 1969, Dr. Yacoub accepted a position with USGS and continued his love for physics and geology in California where he fell in love with his nurse. Eventually he would return to Colorado to finish school and made the phone call to that nurse and convinced her to move to Colorado with him so they could get married. In 1972 he married the love of his life, Yvonne. The two moved to St. Louis, Missouri for him to pursue his doctorate at Saint Louis University in geophysics. Upon his graduation he accepted a job with the U.S. Air Force as a civilian with the Air Force Technical Applications Center on Patrick AFB in 1976. Four years later the couple welcomed their only child, Natalie. Then after what probably felt like an eternity he walked his daughter down the aisle to his new son Ryan in 2014. Two years later he was blessed to welcome his only granddaughter, Isabell. For the next two years she showed him what it meant to be a Gidu (Arabic for grandfather). She was the light of his world and renewed his passion for teaching. Along the way, Dr. Yacoub laid the cornerstones and foundations for his beloved Coptic Orthodox Church. He dedicated so much of his life to serving the house of God, building entire church communities, leading them, and handing them down to new generations. He cared for the alter, made holy bread, taught chants to younger deacons, and ensured the traditions of the Ancient Church were understood and passed along. His love for science, physics, history, politics, Ancient Egypt, beer making, and his 1969 Chevelle will be missed. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers over the years and we leave you with this from Revelations chapter 14, verse 13, "Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from Now on." "Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them." There will be a viewing held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 6:00p-8:00p at Beach Funeral Home, 1689 S Patrick Dr., Indian Harbour Beach, FL 32937. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 11:00a at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, 5965 N Wickham Rd., Melbourne, FL 32940. Reception to follow in the church hall.
