Neil Richard Jentink

Neil Richard Jentink, son of Bernard & Evelyn Jentink, went to be with his LORD and Savior on January 31, 2020. He was born in Cedar Grove, Wisconsin on August 26, 1934. Neil is survived by his wife Ann, of 65 years; four children & spouses, Jane Jentink Rogers Sue Jentink Meeks & Steven; Tom Jentink & Heather Worley Jentink; Dan Jentink & Flora Rodriguez Jentink; eleven grandchildren, David Rogers, son of Jane Christian Meeks & wife Elizabeth, Meredith and Elizabeth Meeks, children of Sue Kade, Alec & Nathan Jentink, sons of Tom; Kandace, Frank, Patrick & Jakov, children of Dan and five great- grandchildren, AJ & Noah, sons of Kandace Hunter, Morgan,and Olivia, children of Frank & Manesah. Each event was a signature event in Neils life as he watched them grow up! In addition, Neil is survived by his two brothers, Roger and Don. Neil & Ann Ebbers were married on April 2, 1954 in Cedar Grove, Wisconsin. In December of that first year, Neil was involved in an accident at his work and lost three fingers on his left hand leaving him with a thumb and little finger. He arrived home from the hospital on the day before our first Christmas together. Since it was a work related accident, he was assigned a vocational guidance counselor who advised him to think about getting a college education. Somewhat doubtful that he would qualify, he enrolled at the University of Wisconsin and graduated there with a degree in mechanical engineering. Our first daughter was born there. He really liked his chosen vocation, took a job with ALCOA in Davenport, Iowa. His work there for 6 years was challenging and enjoyable as he learned valuable lessons in building relationships with his co-workers. Three other children were born during this time. Also, it was during that time, through good Bible teaching and meeting missionaries, Neil began to see there was a need for people in a variety of vocations to train for overseas missionary ministry. In 1966 he left his career as an engineer to begin training at Moody Bible Institutes Aviation and A&P training. Still needing specific training in missions, we packed to leave for New Tribes Mission in Pennsylvania. By 1971 we six were on our way to fill a need to maintain, repair & restore the small single engine airplanes that NTM had in the Philippines. With family alongside him, we served in the central part of the northern island of Luzon for 14 years. Life was full of challenges, not only in his ministry but in cross cultural relationships and with our co-workers. Neil was thankful for his experiences with co-workers at ALCOA! When our last son graduated from high school in the Philippines in 1985, we returned to the U.S.A. to continue ministry for about ten years in Florida with ICCI, a missionary training center there and then Neil became a missions consultant with the EFCA denomination as a consultant in their Southeastern District. In 1995, we were asked to return to the RP again to mentor a young Filipino pastor in Tagum City, Mindanao. And so began a relationship partnering with that pastor and with that church family that was clearly a God-given gift! It was like "icing on the cake" and we still feel like we have family there. We give all the thanks and honor to God for working through us there!!
