Neil Zimmerman

Neil Zimmerman, age 78, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2012 at Meridian Care Center in Meridian, Idaho. He was born April 20, 1934 in Washington TWP, Wisconsin to Waldo Edward and Elsa (Klassy) Zimmerman. He was preceded in death by his father. Neil graduated from Monticello High School in 1952 and then attended Vocational School in Madison. He joined the military in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1959. For over 50 years Neil was an amateur radio operator which was his passion. His call letters were NB7Q. In January 1975, Neil accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was a faithful follower and teacher. Neil is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carol; son, Michael of Alaska, daughter Patti Zollinger of Meridian, son David (Marsha) of Tennessee and daughter Laurie Nitz (Curtis Farris) of Meridian, grandsons Paul Hayes, Philip Hayes-Vasilieva (Olga), Christopher Hayes (Chattian Apataki) all of Alaska, granddaughter Caitlin Nitz of Ohio, grandson Jordan Nitz of Filer, great granddaughter Hazel Kahlan Hayes of Alaska, mother Elsa (100 years) of Wisconsin, sister Dorothy Schlapbach of Wisconsin and several nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Meridian Care Center and Legacy Hospice for their quality care of Neil. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Meridian Assembly of God, 1830 N. Linder Rd., Meridian, ID with Pastor Ed Kreiner officiating. Remembrances may be left for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com.
