Nelson T. Alberto

Nelson T. Alberto, 44, of McNeir Ave, Amsterdam passed away unexpectedly Tuesday September 26, 2006 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born in the Dominican Republic on April 16, 1962 a son of Idalio and Maria Alberto Rodriguez. Mr. Alberto came to the U.S. as a child and lived and grew up in New York City. He attended New York City Schools. Nelson worked for over 17 years as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Niskayuna and Glenville, NY. He loved being a postman and was very proud to wear the uniform. He was very proud to call every one of his co-workers his friends and they were all there for him when he needed them. In addition to his parents, survivors include his loving companion, Florine ?Flo? Kopczynski of Amsterdam, NY; eight daughters, Janiris Alberto of Florida, Yuderka Ovalle of Amsterdam, Heidi Ovalle of Amsterdam, Christina Alberto of Amsterdam, Jessica Alberto of Amsterdam, Anna Ayers of Amsterdam, Karina Pena of Massachusetts and Anna Pena also of Massachusetts; a son Miguel Pena of Massachusetts; two brothers, Jose Alberto and Esidro ?Gigo? Alberto both of Amsterdam and three sisters, Greselda, Nana and Nani Alberto of Amsterdam. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at 2:00PM at the Calvary Assembly of God Church, Main St. Amsterdam with the Rev. Bill Cregra presiding. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 11:00AM to 2:00PM at the Calvary Assembly of God Church. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Cardiac Center of Ellis Hospital.
