Warner Robins, GA: Nelson Turner, Jr, 65, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday May 18, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Second Baptist Church with burial at 2:30 PM in The Georgia Veterans Memorial Gardens in Milledgeville. Visitation will be from 7 until 9 PM Sunday at the funeral home. The Rev. Mike Slade will officiate. Mr. Turner was born in Sandersville, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents Nelson Turner, Sr. and Geneva Harris Turner. He was retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad as a yard clerk and was a veteran of the United Army. Mr. Turner was a long member of Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins where he was an usher, a former deacon. Some of his enjoyable times at church were taking mission trips to West Virginia and cooking for the men fellowships. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and Christian friend. Survivors include his wife Shirley Turner of Warner Robins, daughter Renee’ Cline of Warner Robins, sons Nelson Turner, III of Kuwait, Travis Margaret Turner of Warner Robins, grandchildren Amber Dyson, Alexis Turner, Ravyn Johnson, Adrien Turner, sisters Gloria Thomas Moore of Macon, Arlynthia Lynn Donald Priest of Greensboro, NC, Mildred Caines of Greensboro, NC, aunts Theresa Kemp of Macon, Corrine Turner of Jacksonville, FL, one adopted daughter Stephanie Lewis, one adopted granddaughter Jessica Lewis both of Warner Robins, nine sister-in-laws, three brother-in-laws and a host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund @ 2504 Moody Rd., Warner Robins, GA, 31088, in memory of Mr. Turner. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
