Nicholas Alfred Goodman

Obituary for Nicholas A. Goodman January 19, 1953 – March 15, 2024 Nicholas A. Goodman was born of goodly parents, Vance and Ethel Mortensen Goodman on January 19, 1953 in Tucson, Arizona. He was the fifth child of eight children. Nick’s brothers and sisters are Dolores Bingham, Ramona Lines, Anthony Goodman, Pierce Goodman, Matt Goodman, Miriam Whetton (deceased), and Taylor Goodman. As a youth Nick took an active part in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission to Guatemala/El Salvador in 1972-74. He was also very involved in scouting, receiving his Eagle Scout at the young age of 13. Choral music and piano were a huge part of Nick’s life growing up and at BYU, singing for the Rincon High School Choraliers and BYU A cappella Choir, serving as Choir President. Throughout his life the performing arts were a major hobby to Nick, both music and stage. Nick chose being an advocate for those who need help with the law and organizations needing protection. His undergraduate was Public Relations from Brigham Young University, graduating in 1977, then attended law school at the UofA. He was a JAG officer from 1981-86, serving at San Diego, Rhode Island, GTMO Bay in Cuba, and Rota, Spain. He took his family with him on this great Navy adventure. Post Navy days he worked at Hughes, UofA, and Children’s Hospital in LA. Nick married Linda LaDean Gent on June 17, 1977 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They have five children, Nick Jr, Gens, Xela, Jorgen, and Anders and 16 grandchildren (8 girls and 8 boys), Sam, Dailan, Magnus, Jake, Soren, Keira, Kylamarie, Benjamin, Jessalyn, Eve, Gabriella, Aurland, Anabelle, Isabelle, Anderson, and Jasper. Nick loved to travel and he loved to help others experience worldwide places and cultures. There were only two of the seven continents that he didn’t get to explore. Family was everything to Nick. His wife, children, and grandchildren, his brothers, and sisters, nieces, and nephews, both his and Linda’s family, and his “dozens of cousins” were his world. What we will remember most about him were his kindness and his sense of humor. Family get togethers will never be the same. God be with you ‘til we meet again Nick. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3530 W Magee Road with his Funeral Service beginning at 10:30AM. Burial will follow at 2:30PM at the Binghampton Cemetery, 4001 N. Alvernon Way with Military Honors rendered by the United States Navy.
