Nicholas Rocco Puppo was born on March 15, 1935 in Freeland, PA to Mary Josephine Puppo and Nicholas Puppo who were born in Chiaromonte, Italy. He went to be with our Lord peacefully on Sunday morning, August 22, 2021. He was the youngest of his parents’ 14 children. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Evelyn, and by his parents, all of his siblings, his step daughter Barbara Basso and a great granddaughter, Kasey. He served our country during the Korean War. When he married Evelyn Irene Tripp he too on the responsibility of her 4 children and treated them like his own. In 1963 they had a son together. Nick was a good man and an even better father and grandfather. He sold many of his prize possessions just to put food on the table. He worked at Thermoplastics, Marriot Hotels, and retired from Somerset County in New Jersey. He and Evelyn were also owners of the Aspen Motel that used to be where Viegut Funeral Home parking lot is now. He is survived by his children, Virginia Perrine, John T Perrine (Jeanne), Bonnie Hickox (Bill), Joel Nicholas Puppo, and son in law, Gus Basso. He has 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In his final years he made his home in Berthoud, Colorado. He loved riding up to Rocky Mountain National Park with his daughter Ginny, searching out elk and moose. He enjoyed going with John to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas and fishing trips with his family. He loved the Poconos and the Rocky Mountains! He will be sadly missed and remembered by all who knew him. Funeral service will be Friday August 27, 2021, 11:00am at Viegut Funeral Home with viewing 1 hour prior to service.
