Spud AKA Nickales Peter Bassignani 20 February 1985- 01 August 2024

Champion Dual Forklift Operator, lover of ’Coping Big Air’ and shared experiences with loved ones.

Survived by: Shauna (his Mother), Peri (his Father) and Nikki (Peri’s Soul Mate), Mark (Peri’s brother). Melissa and Andrew and their five amazing boys; Uriah, Cree, Elijah, Aiden, Lance and Ambrose (sweetest baby). Trey and Amber- so amazing and much loved. Kevin and Andrea and their three beautiful girls; Leia, Harlee and Ahlyvia, Scott and Wendy, Anthony and Kelly, and Sarah. Adam; greatest friend since early childhood. All of Spud’s High School friends; too numerous to list, but y’all know who you are!! And in memory of those friends who we lost too early; may they Rest in Peace with Spud. Big ass snowboarding party in heaven!

Spud’s love of ‘Coping Big Air’ included Skydiving (tandon jump with Adam), cliff diving with HS friends, hitting the triples on his treasured YZ125 dirt bike in Palmer Lake, snowboarding, especially dropping into a half-pipe with his amazing HS friends. Spud attended NASA Space Camp at 14 years old, where he experienced O gravity-the ultimate ‘Big Air’!

Spud’s love of speed was evidenced by his speeding tickets earned while driving his beloved Subaru, thanks to the Bad Ass turbo. Spud included Adam in searching for and  purchasing his Subaru as it was a very special day.

Spud’s love of camping began at age one with his family. At age eight, he enjoyed camping more with friends at The Aspen Camp School for the Deaf (ACSD). There he met life-long friends like Adam, Gracie and many more. Spud and his HS friends had many memorable camping trips, one that sent some fleeing from the police and those who got caught; they got tickets. LOL. Adam took Spud for his last, and probably most memorable camping trip, in the dead of winter. While trying not to freeze to death their campfire got a bit out of control and burnt a huge hole in their tent; they loved every minute of it!

Spud enjoyed participating in various sports when he attended The Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind (CSDB). He played football, wrestled, and ran track and field. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his Deaf coaches and Deaf teammates. He also loved skateboarding, ice hockey (The Mighty Ducks), surfing, and BMX racing for Team Deaf.

Spud was, and still is, a die hard Denver Broncos fan! He also enjoyed the Avs and Rockies. He most enjoyed watching football and hockey with his great friend, Kevin. Kevin is a die hard Raiders fan. When these two teams played it was an event, for sure. Despite their opposing fandom, their love for each other remained strong. Kevin, Andrea, Scott, Kelly, Wendy, Sarah and Anthony included Spud as one of their own. They hosted ‘sleep overs’, so no one drove home drunk and made sure Spud was safe and fed; forever grateful for all of you and your friendship and caring.

Spud’s Memorial will be 04 October 2024 at 4:00 P.M.

Kevin and Andrea have generously offered their home for this occasion.

Spud’s favorite meal was Turkey and mashed potatoes with gravy.  Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday and he also had this meal for his birthday. In his honor this is what will be served. Gino Villarreal

I have known Nick through Aspen Camp (ACSD) where I met him in summer 1993 that time I was 11 years old and he was one of my cabinmate. Then few years later I saw him at CSDB where he enrolled CSDB in late about winter 1996 that time I was in middle school and he had been there at CSDB until 1999 that I haven't seen him again and a year later in summer 2000 I saw him again when we went back to ACSD. He was in my group with Adam Clark. I have not seen him again after that, we don't have any contact until he found me through Facebook. I know he enjoyed his camp life at ACSD just like me. ACSD was his happy place like me. He is free from his pain and is in the best place with his angels now. My condolences go out to his family through the difficult time of losing him. He will be sorely miss and he will always be remember. I will see him again when my time comes. May he rest in peace. Gino Villarreal
