Nikolay Nikolaevich Shinkarevich
April 22nd, 1923 - November 26th, 2019
Nikolay Nikolaevich Shinkarevich, 96, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2019. A native of Stolin, Belarus, Nikolay was born April 22, 1923 to the late Nikolay and Hanna Shinkarevich. A survivor of WWII, he was captured by Nazis and put in Labor Camp until freed by Soviet Army in 1944. It was the most difficult time of his life, he was hungry, didn’t have any good clothes and shoes, worked very hard but he was young and strong, God helped him to survived. After he was freed he served in Soviet Army over two years. When he returned to his home he found it burned down he then helped rebuild his home. His life passed on the farm, he worked very hard during his life time; doing a lot of construction. Coming to the United States in 1999 he worked a construction job even though he was well into his 70s. He was always very strong, honest and kind man. He was happily married with his wife Olga over 70 years. Nikolay was truly an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend. He treasured his time with his family especially with his grand kids telling them multiple stories from his life. In addition to his wife, Olga, Nikolay is survived by his daughter Anna Kharitonova; sons, Michael Shinkarevich, Anthony Shinkarevich and Leonid Shinkarevich; grandchildren, Vadim, Valentina, Natasha, Slava, Olga, Victoria, Nikolay, Pavel and Dmitriy; and great grandchildren, Artum, Alina, Kirill, Polina, Anna and Konstantin. A Funeral Service will be held 12pm, Friday, November 29, 2019 at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing, followed by burial in Rose Crest Cemetery, Versailles. A visitation will be from 10:00 am – 12 pm prior to service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be sent to the Lexington Humane Society, 1600 Old Frankfort Pike, Lexington, KY 40504.
