Nora Gibson

Nora Stanley Gibson, 87, went to be with our Lord and her friends and family who preceded her in death (March 3rd, 2016). Nora was born March 30, 1928 in Jenkins Kentucky where she attended Jenkins High School and met Robert Gibson whom she later married. Nora and Robert (Bobby) moved from Jenkins to Kingsport in the early 1950's and begin a successful electrical contracting firm known as Gibson Electric. Bobby and Nora operated the business until the late 1970's when they retired. Bobby passed away form a sudden illness in March 1988. Nora and Bobby were blessed with three beautiful daughters, Darlene, Judy and Robin. Nora was preceded in death by her mother Frona Stanley, her father Fairbanks Stanley, her brothers Jim and Kenneth Stanley, her sister Ruth Boggs, and her husband Robert Gibson. She is survived by her daughters Darlene Jennings, Judy Robinette, Robin Poole, her sister Helen Stanley and a brother Charles (Biddy) Stanley. Nora is also survived by three grandchildren, Donna Tilley, Daniel Jennings, and Ashley Poole; including six great grandchildren, Alex and Trent Tilley, Hayden and Emily Jennings, and Adriana and Meredith Marin. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 5th, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Carter Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. Services will be held Sunday, March 6th, 2016 in the funeral home chapel at 1:30 pm with Charles Senior, minister officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jon Marin, Daniel Jennings, James Poole, Robert Robinette, Greg Tilley, Ted Salyer and Larry Lewis. Friends of the family wishing to do so may send flowers or make donations to their preferred charity in Nora's name. The family wishes to express a sincere thanks and appreciation to Carol Lane who has demonstrated extraordinary love, caring and support and stood by our family for the past several weeks during this tiring time.
