Nora Mae (Kunzie) Tracy was born on November 14, 1926 as the 4th child born to John H. & Eva Mae (Johns) Kunzie in Ponca, Nebraska. She entered her eternal heavenly home on January 8, 2021. Nora grew up in the Abarr community in eastern Colorado. By the age of 14, both of her parents had died. At the age of 16 she began making a living working at various jobs, which included babysitting, waitress, mail courier, working at Remington Arms (making bullets for WW2 military), The May Company (later called May D&F), Gates Rubber Company, Montgomery Ward, Denver Public Schools working in Food Service from which she later retired. Nora met Harold James (Bud) Tracy in 1945 in Denver, CO and they married on June 28, 1947 in Billings, MT. They settled in southwest Denver where they raised 4 children: Susan, Patty, Alan & Judy. In 1962 they began foster parenting, where they cared for over 40 children from 1962-1973. After Bud’s retirement they enjoyed traveling the country in their various motor homes, seeing almost every state and visiting lots of family and friends. Some of Nora’s hobbies and interests included knitting, crocheting, bowling & traveling. She crocheted an afghan for every one of her grandchildren when they graduated from High School. A very special gift that Nora had was that of hospitality. She loved to have people come over for coffee, dinner, or any other occasion that needed hosting. It seemed as though she would always have a pot of hot coffee on the stove for any such occasion. She especially liked to host those in need of lodging, such as missionaries, evangelists, and many family members who were passing through. In 1959 Bud trusted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and led his family to attend College View Gospel Chapel (later named Denver Gethsemane Baptist Church). Soon after attending church there, Nora was led to a believing knowledge of the Lord Jesus and put her trust in Him only, as her personal Lord and Savior. She then began serving as Sunday School secretary, working in the nursery as well as helping with Vacation Bible School in the summers. As her children became teenagers, “Mrs. Tracy” welcomed many of the youth into their home, once again hosting everything from bible studies, to Sunday evening front porch sing-alongs & root beer floats, to water fights in the backyard!!! She also served at Camp Id-Ra-Ha-Je in the kitchen, serving food (and many smiles as well) to the campers who attended. Many years later they began attending McCarroll Bible Church and then Holly Hills Bible Church, her most recent fellowship. Nora is survived by her sisters: Laverne Curtis and Laura Deane Wells; her children: Susan (Wayne) Anderson, Patty (David) Babers, Alan (Debby) Tracy, and Judy (David) Pershing; her grandchildren: Brian, Aaron (Trish), Paul (Melissa), Nathan (Lori), Becky, Stephen (Valerie), Matt (Heather), Jenni (Jeremy), April (Aaron), Jamie (Bill), Josh, Michaeleen, Matthew ( Kim), Chris (Ashley), Rachel (Jonathan) & Daniel (Katie); as well as 30 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Bud, her parents John & Eva Kunzie, her brother Harold Kunzie, and sisters Lela Schafer & Katie Krausman. As a testimony to the kind, loving and generous person that she was here on this earth, she will be deeply missed, but the memories of the lives she touched and the godly legacy she left behind will live on in our hearts. And heaven has gained a very special lady!
