Norma Rose Mickey Stark
March 22nd, 1919 - December 10th, 2007
Norma Rose ?Mickey? Stark, 88, of Midline Road passed away peacefully Monday, December 10, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital. She was born March 22, 1919 daughter of the late George and Lena Sands Stark. Norma was a life resident of the area having attended schools in the Amsterdam area. She attended St. Mary?s Institute and obtained her license in nursing which she was very proud of. She owned and operated a Nursing Home in New York State for some time until she chose to leave and return to Amsterdam to help care for her mother whose health was declining. Following her return, Norma, worked in home health care and in area hospitals and nursing homes on a per diem basis, demonstrating her passion for nursing. She was the Florence Nightingale of her era. Norma was the matriarch of her family and was the ultimate homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending lots of time with her large family. Her love and devotion to her family was demonstrated in her everyday life. She will be sadly missed by all. In addition to her parents, Norma was predeceased by a daughter, Marlene Hirschfeld, a brother, Kenneth Stark, two sisters, Thelma Winney and Dorothy Casabone, a great-grandson Eric Kalinsky, and a nephew, Michael Skowronek. She was the loving mother of Norma Jean Stanley of Amsterdam, the loving sister of Harold Stark of Ft. Myers, FL, Richard Stark of Amsterdam, Florence Kazala of Amsterdam, Geraldine ?Gerry? Kaczor of Mayfied and Shirley Clem Skowronek of Amsterdam, the much loved ?Nanny? of Venus Hirschfeld, Wanda T.W. Holt, Louis ?Sonny? Fringo, Brenda Borge, Yvonne Israel Toro and Norma Margo, beloved great-nanny to Ronnie, Anthony Marion, Alisa, Marla, Anton, Sal, Daryl, Russell, Sarah, Aryelle, Sabrina, Alexis and Alina, beloved great-great nanny to Ky?rese, Trinity, Ty and Aiden and beloved sister-in-law to Faith Stark. Several nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own children also survive her. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 15, at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00AM at St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church, East Main Street, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the services from 9:00 to 10:00AM on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery in Fort Johnson. Contributions in Norma?s memory may be made to her family in care of the funeral home.
