Norma Spivey Nistle, 91, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2014. A visitation to celebrate Norma's life will be held at Anderson McQueen on Monday, September 29, 2014 from 4 - 6 p.m. A memorial service and interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. Norma was born in Ryland, North Carolina on May 15, 1923 to Orestes Eugene Spivey and Alethia Mae Spivey. Her family moved to Arlington, Virginia when she was a child. After attending a year at James Madison, she went to work in the Pentagon and met her husband-to-be Kenyon G. Nistle, USN. They were married Jan. 3, 1941 and later had three children. They traveled with the Navy from the Pacific to Europe, and Norma was always proud of her Navy affiliation. After husband Ken died in 1963, she settled in Alexandria, Virginia, near her parents. In January 2009, she moved to Westminster Shores in St. Petersburg where she enjoyed a beautiful waterfront view from her apartment. She is predeceased by her husband, LCdr. Kenyon G. Nistle; her son, Scott A. Nistle; her sister, Helen Peterson; and her grandson, Kenyon E. Oliver. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry N. Oliver (Gene); her son Kerry K. Nistle (Robin); grandsons Kyle M. Oliver (Hanna) and WO Dustin A. Nistle (Tiffany); Ken Oliver's wife Diane; four great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to your favorite church or charity.
