Norman Douglas McAllister, age 76, of North Port, Florida, passed away on April 29, 2009. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 18, 1933. He worked for Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan for 35 years and moved to North Port in 2000. He was a member of San Pedro Catholic church in North Port and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 58 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary McAllister of North Port; children, Ken McAllister, Diane (Dominic) Giancarlo, Douglas McAllister, Christine (Mark) Hammerle, Elizabeth (David) Lepak; a brother, William McAllister and loving grandfather of nine grandchildren. A memorial gathering will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5780 Evergreen Road, Detroit, Michigan 48228 on Friday, May 8, 2009 from 10:00-11:00AM with a memorial service to follow. Memorial donations may be made to TideWell Hospice & Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Florida 34238. Farley Funeral Home in North Port is handling the arrangements.
