July 1st, 1933 - September 27th, 2024
Norman J. Paige, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 27, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Born on July 1, 1933, in Ogdensburg, NY, a son of the late Walter and Ester (Clarke) Paige. Norm attended Norwood-Norfolk Central School then went on to proudly serve in the United States Army from 1953-1955.
Norm worked for Alcoa and L.B. Smith before retiring from Lane Construction in Fultonville. After retiring, he would volunteer as BINGO Captain through St. Cecilia’s Church in Fonda, as well as working part time at the Town of Mohawk office building. In his down time, he enjoyed watching NASCAR and going on a yearly New Hampshire trip with family and friends for the NASCAR race, riding snowmachines, going camping and spending time with his family. Most of all, Norm was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed by all.
On July 23, 1955, he was united in marriage to Jean (Gang) Paige, a loving union of over 65 years until her passing on April 10, 2021. Together for many years, Norm and Jean belonged with the Sacandaga Square Dancing Club.
Survivors include his loving family, daughters, Patsy (Keith) Vertucci of Tribes Hill, NY and Betsy (Peter) Fancher of Dallas, NC; grandchildren, Brittany (Eric) Matthews, Ashley Fancher and Stacy Vertucci; great grandchildren, Caleigh Grace and Angelo Cagnina, and Kane and Raegan Paige Matthews; brother, Cyril (Jayne) Paige of Fernandina Beach, FL; his pet Parakeet, Bird; nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff on the 4th floor at St. Mary’s Hospital for the care they gave to Norm.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 1pm at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda, with The Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V officiating.
