Daneri Mortuary
Norman Albert Vogt
August 4th, 1940 - January 17th, 2017
First and foremost, Norm was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He believed strongly in the philosophy of "lead by example". He was the "Go-to Guy" for his grandchildren, always setting the standard high, and being there for each of them. When the truck pulled out of the driveway our little dog Stella could be seen in the passenger seat. Norm was an active member of the St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church community and member of the SKD Men's Club. Many will remember Norm as part of the church Mens Club Bingo night. He was a driver for the local Amador County Interfaith Food Bank for many years. Norm attended St. Lawrence Seminary in Mt. Calvary Wisconsin and was a 1959 graduate of St. Mary's Springs Academy. He Served with the Wisconsin National Guard. He was employed with International Paper Company for more than 40 years. He began his career with IP in the Fond du Lac (Wisconsin) Plant, Howell (Detroit) Michigan, and San Jose, California. He served as Regional Manager of the Modesto and Los Angeles area plants. He took early retirement and enjoyed traveling all over the world. He was a loyal Green Bay Packer fan, and avid golfer. Each year Norm and his 3 boys spent a week together playing golf, fondly called The Vogt Cup. He played golf on Wednesdays with the same friends for many years. Norm is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Anthony and wife, Floy, Joan Bauer and Daryl, Tim and wife, Eniko, David and wife, Nicole; Vogt grandchildren, Joshua, Nick, Jacob, Emily, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Andrew, Lauryn and Julia; siblings, Carol and her husband, Roger Cheevers, Merle, and wife, Shari, Mary Grace and husband, Mike Tighe, Leo and Kathy and youngest sister, Christine Thielke.
