OBITUARY – Lexington – Oliver E. Lowe – Services for Oliver E. "Gene" Lowe will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington. Burial will follow the service in Woodridge Memorial Park of Lexington. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Monday, December 31, 2018, prior to the service at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Gene passed away December 26, 2018. Born in Duncan, SC, he was a son of the late Oliver Franklin and Lillie Mae Makison Lowe. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother who will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Gene was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and who was very handy with all types of projects. He loved his family, and his church family at North Columbia Church of Christ. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Evalina K. Lowe; daughter, Pamela L. Pitts (David), of Spartanburg; sons, Vernon E. Lowe (Karen) of Lexington, Keith R. Lowe (Donna), of Rock Springs, WY, Richard Scott Lowe (Shannon), of Greenville; grandchildren, Kelly R. Hallman (Adrian), Aaron L. Hallman (Lisa), Melinda C. Nix (Josh), Katelyn Lowe, Clinton Thomas Lowe (Jessie), Nathan Scott Lowe, Jacob Walker Lowe, Ansley Morgan Lowe, Riley Elizabeth Lowe, Alexis Taylor Lowe; great-grandchildren, Isabella Nix, Scarlett Nix; sister, Betty Burch. Gene is also survived by a large and loving extended family. In addition to his parents, Gene was predeceased by his brother, Bobby Joe Lowe, and a granddaughter, Melissa Hallman and a great-granddaughter, Evalina Nix. Gene’s family would like to thank Dr. Harman and his staff for their attentive care, and the members of North Columbia Church of Christ for their love and support during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Columbia Church of Christ, 1211 Inland Drive, Columbia, SC 29210.
