Oliver H. Stevens
May 20th, 1921 - September 9th, 2006
Oliver H. Stevens, 85, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at his home. He was born May 20, 1921 in Edgewood, Washington to William and Donna (Kern) Stevens. He served 6 years in the United States Army. He then joined the United States Air Force retiring as a CW04 in 1975 after 33 years of service. He married Bonnie L. Thorp on July 11, 1947. She preceded him in death in 1979. On May 20, 1981 he married Edith Baze in Grangeville, Idaho she survives him at the family home in Tumwater. He is also survived by his daughter, Jacqueline M. Slye of Olympia; grandchildren, Jason Slye of Iraq, Joshua Slye of Olympia and Tonja Mason of Aloha, Oregon; great grandchildren, Chloe Mason, Ellie Mason, Olivia Mason and Georgia Mason all of Aloha, Oregon; an adopted daughter, Betty (Dean) Nelson of St. Helens, Oregon; brothers, Clifford Stevens of Smokey Point, Washington, Albert Stevens of Hayden Lake, Idaho and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Donna Stevens, a brother, William Stevens and a stepdaughter, Clarisse Mays. Dad and mom traveled all over on there Honda Goldwing with the Goldwing Touring Club. They also square danced and round danced wit the Yelm Frontier Whirlers. They both volunteered for the Yelm Senior Center Thrift Store for many years. A celebration of life and reception will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2006 at the Masonic Center, 521 North St. SE, Tumwater. The family will have a military service at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Alzheimers Foundation.
