Omar Donnelly Sr.

Omar Donnelly, 51, was born on December 23, 1970 in Union, NJ. Known to many as "Odie "O"," he passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 20, 2022. Omar grew up in Newark and East Orange NJ where he attended Clifford J. Scott High School. After graduating high school, when Omar was just 18 years old, he decided to join the United States Marines Corps and was stationed at Keflavik Military Base in Iceland. Omar would go on to serve in two Tours of Duty in Desert Storm. Despite the heartaches and the tragedy, he witnessed in his years in the Marine Corps, Omar was always incredibly proud to have been of service to his country. After serving in the Marines, he relocated to Virginia where he married his former spouse Gracette Donnelly and had his only child Omar Donnelly Jr. He moved to North Carolina in 2002 where he spent the latter part of his years with former spouse Evon Donnelly. Omar was self-taught, very skilled in construction and started his own business remodeling and renovating homes. He took great pride in providing quality craftmanship at affordable prices for his clients. He was a practical joker with a generous heart of gold, never hesitating to help people out. Because he was a big kid at heart, his nieces and nephews adored him along with the children of his close friends. He was known for his friendliness and never hesitated to let people know that he loved them. Anyone who knew Omar knew that he was the most loving father, husband, brother, and friend a family could ask for. Omar was predeceased by his grandmother Lena Donnelly; mother, Sharon Joyce Donnelly; Brother Rajahn Davis Bey. Omar is survived by his Son, Omar Donnelly Jr.; stepfather, Fred Hall Sr.; siblings Lynette Morrow, Malik Davis Bey, Fred Hall Jr., Sharon Hall, Kennedy Donnelly Hall; Aunt Jina Donnelly and a host of cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
