Omer Perdue

OMER E. PERDUE Omer E. Perdue, 71, went home to be with the Lord on March 4, 2016, due to cancer, from his residence in Burnsville, MN. Omer was born February 28, 1945, in Huntington, WV, to James and Helen Perdue. His family moved to Shortsville, NY, when he was young. He was a dedicated teacher and administrator at Silver State Baptist School, Lakewood, CO, and was later a college professor and department head at Maranatha Baptist University, Watertown, WI. During his career in Christian education, he positively influenced countless young people as they prepared for their various pursuits of life. Upon retiring as an educator at age 63, he spent his final working years helping people as a retirement advisor with Karlan Tucker & Associates in Littleton, CO. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who always delighted in time spent with family and friends! Faithfulness in his local church was a priority, and he often taught adult classes. He was a graduate of Red Jacket Central High School, Manchester, NY; Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC; and Eastern Michigan University Graduate School in Ypsilanti, MI. He earned a PhD in philosophy of history from Union Institute and University, Cinncinati, OH. He is survived by his wife Carolyn; children, Kim Trueblood (Bruce) of Wausau,WI, Sharon Perdue of Longmont, CO, Paul Perdue (Joleen) of Burnsville, MN, and Stephen Perdue (Kristi) of eastern Asia; his brother James Perdue (Connie) of Greenwood, IN, sister-in-law Daureen Perdue of Stafford, VA, ten grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his aunt Ruby Perdue Steffen of Huntington, WV, along with several other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Walter R. Perdue. A memorial service is to be held Wednesday March 23, 2016, at 6:30 p.m., at Eden Baptist Church, 1313 Hwy 13 E, Burnsville, MN, 55337. There will be another memorial service on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Longmont, CO. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts will be given to missions.
