She was a member of Eugene Faith Center and an active member of Mother’s In Touch helping young mothers navigate the joys and challenges of parenthood. She taught Bible Study and directed Children’s Vacation Bible School for many years. When Harold and Opal lost their daughter, Cristine, at the age of 26, Opal retired from her position as assistant manager of the House of Fabrics to help raise Cristine’s two small boys, Deon and Rod.
