Woodridge Memorial Park & Funeral Home
Oscar Lee Glaze
October 19th, 1937 - September 3rd, 2019
Oscar Lee Glaze, 81, of Lexington, passed away September 3, 2019. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, with service following on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at the mausoleum chapel of Woodridge Memorial Park. Pastor Wayne Brown will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Woodridge Memorial Park. Born in West Columbia, he was the son of the late Anna Terry Glaze and Robert Roy Glaze. Oscar attended Brookland Cayce High School, graduating in 1955. He played football for the Bearcats under “Coach” Bill Moye. After a short while at The University of SC, Oscar decided his time would be better spent in the working world. Oscar married Ann Manley in 1957, and together they had one daughter, Belinda Ann Glaze Cress. He was successful at Brown Sales Company, then at 28, he opened two dry cleaning businesses. Oscar and Ann divorced in 1978, and remained good friends. Oscar married Brenda James in 1981, and moved to Myrtle Beach, where he spent many years fishing and enjoying the coast. He loved to hunt with the James family in NC. In 1982, Oscar and Brenda attended a Billy Graham Crusade and, deciding he needed the Savior to forgive his sins, gave Jesus Christ authority over the rest of his days. His life was transformed. He attended First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach and faithfully served the Lord distributing Bibles as a Gideon. He loved and served his wife Brenda through kidney disease until her death March 24, 2019. After this time, while living with his daughter in Lexington, Oscar and his first wife Ann were able to restore a deep and abiding friendship that brought him needed comfort. Oscar is survived by his daughter, Belinda Glaze Cress (Andy) of Lexington; grandson, David Cress (Leah) of Illinois; granddaughter, BrieAnn Morris (Peter) of Australia; great-grandchildren, Zeke, Ian and Hope Cress, Ronald and Charles Morris. Oscar is also survived by his first wife, Ann Manley Glaze. In addition to his parents, Oscar was predeceased by his wife, Brenda James Glaze. The family would like to thank Dr. Matthew Day, Dr. Brian Wall and the nursing staff at Lexington Medical Center ICU for their loving and attentive care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, One Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201, Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800 or Diversified Ministries, PO Box 70777, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572
