Oswald was born to Eulalee Dennis and Herbert Henry on Feb 11, 1939, in St. Mary, Jamaica. As a teenage he moved to Portland to live with his Aunt Delsie Riley, where he worked in the family business until he moved to Kingston and worked for the Dept of Public Works. While in Kingston he started a family and had two daughters, Donna and Tricia. Oswald dedicated his life to serving the Lord. He made lifelong friends and was a devoted cricket umpire on weekends at Sabina Park. In 1971, Oswald took a leap of faith and went to visit relatives in the United States. He decided to stay in New York and worked as a mechanic at several companies until his retirement from the Metropolitan Transit Authority after 15 years. Oswald re-dedicated his faith after joining his beloved Rugby Deliverance Tabernacle. His love and commitment to God was re-ignited and he served as a deacon. It was at Rugby that he met Gloria, his loving wife of eighteen years. In 2003 Oswald joined Gloria in Tampa, Florida where he continued his dedication to serving the Lord and joined the Bible Based Fellowship Church. Oswald took great pride in keeping their pool crystal clear and loved to watch Serena playing tennis. On Sunday mornings, he would go to Publix to get a fresh loaf of raisin egg bread for Gloria and while there, enjoyed conversing with the bakery staff. Oswald passed away on July 4th. How fitting on a celebratory day. It must have been a glorious reunion as he joined his mother, father, brothers Neville, Granville and James and longtime friends in heaven. We rejoice in the fact that he is now with the Lord. Oswald loved his family and is survived by his wife, Gloria; children Donna, Tricia, Joan, Elroy, Clive and Michelle; siblings Loris, Aston, Beris and Jean; grandchildren Tyler, Brandon, Jayden and Terrence and a host of devoted family members and lifelong friends.
