Pamela Marie (Avery) Mathis, beloved daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away at the age of 56 on Friday, May 21, 2021, in Loveland, Colorado. Pam was born on October 15, 1964, in Joplin, Missouri to Charles and Linda (Turnbull) Avery. She graduated from Century High School in Bismarck, North Dakota (1982). Pam lived her life with purpose. She sought to please her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and intentionally sought to serve people she knew, including the elderly, with a sympathetic and listening ear through her profession as a massage therapist. Prior to her work in massage therapy, Pam developed an interest in food service as she quickly moved up the ranks of Taco Bell to managerial status. Her interest in management resulted in her achieving an associate degree in business management from Thomas Nelson Community College, Hampton, Virginia. After this, she went on to work as a teller at various banks in Virginia and Colorado Springs. That early interest in food stayed with Pam throughout her whole life and she was often found preparing food for her family whether it be breakfast casserole, sweet potato casserole, chicken chili, and much more. She not only enjoyed the home kitchen, but also spent many hours in the kitchen of Camp Table Rock (Missouri). We remember the thrift store searches for aprons to wear at camp and the enthusiasm with which she spoke of those days and that service. Pam looked for ways to be involved with family. We all enjoyed pictures of painting and installing insulation as she worked to complete projects. Her many short trips to Nebraska built long-lasting memories for many in the family. Pam found delight in the creative works of her God. She found beauty as she hiked the mountains of Colorado, enjoyed the music of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and lost herself in the expressions of positive humanity through Hallmark movies. Pam was a sister, a listener, a thinker, a sincere Christian, and a friend to many. She will be missed, but we are happy for the new home she is enjoying with her Savior Jesus. Pam was preceded in death by her Mother: Linda Avery; Grandmothers: Leila Turnbull, Sylvia Turnbull, Eunice Avery, and Tilly Kufalk; Grandfathers: Ole Turnbull and Charles Avery; Uncles: Willard Turnbull, Denny McVaugh and Frank McVaugh; Nephew: Garrison Avery; Cousins: Sandy, Amanda, Sierra, and Victoria Bowen, and Gabe Juenemann. She is survived by her Father: Charles Avery; Sisters: Debbie (Lowell) Porter and Carla (Shane) Hagerott; Brother: Gary (Susan) Avery. Aunts and Uncles: Gloria McVaugh, Mickey Turnbull, Edith Ayres, Cliff (Carol) Turnbull, Jim (Jackie) Avery, and Cathy (Keith) Madsen. Nieces and Nephews: Kayla (Garrison) Avery, Clinton (Andi) Avery, Johnathan Avery, Elizabeth Avery, Bethany (Luke) Burrow, and James Hagerott. Great-nieces: Chloe, Teagan, Kyla, Charlotte, Alice, and Atlas.
