Parker Austin Hook

Obituary Parker Austin Hook, 25, of Pacific Grove, California, died Wednesday October 24, 2018, as a result of injuries sustained in an accidental fall. He was born January 10, 1993 in Monterey, Ca., the son of Lisa (Johnson) Hook and Doyle Hook. He attended Pacific Grove schools and graduated from Pacific Grove High School in 2011, where he was an accomplished athlete on the Breakers Lacrosse team, he was a proud recipient of the Culinary Excellence Award helping his culinary team reach 3rd place in state finals 2 years in a row. Parker had been attending Monterey Peninsula College majoring in Pre-Med, with a goal of becoming a pediatric hospice nurse. It spoke to his passion for working with kids and his special bond he had with his 6 year old nephew, Kashton Hook, who loved him dearly. He worked at Alvarado Street Brewery and Grill in Monterey where his quick wit and charming smile made him the favorite among patrons and coworkers alike. Parker’s adventurous spirit took him traveling throughout Europe finding his peace by oceans around the world. He loved fitness in all forms, including biking , climbing, swimming and weight lifting. At age 17, Parker took 2nd place in his age group in his first Pacific Grove Triathlon, 2011 and he went on to successfully finish four Spartan races. The light that beamed from Parker was felt by all, from his laughter that radiated pure joy, to the sincerity in his eyes. Parker was fun, loving, instantly likable, and could make anyone laugh. He brought people together and had the ability to lighten ones spirit with his famous smirk and his contagious laugh. He was blessed with many wonderful, loving friends and coworkers who will miss him dearly. Parker is survived by his mother, Lisa Hook of Pacific Grove, father, Doyle Hook, his three brothers, Nolan, Daniel and Keith, sister-in -law,Kryistyna and nephew Kashton. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Ruth and Warren Johnson of Carmel, CA. and his paternal grandmother, Maryanne Martin. He is survived by his paternal grandparents David and Sue Hook and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial will be held at the Cooper Molera Adobe, 515 Munras at Alvarado St in Monterey, Friday November 16, 2018 at 10:00 am with a celebration of life following at Alvarado Street Brewery and Grill, 426 Alvarado St, Monterey.
