Parks Kendall Lackey
November 3rd, 1921 - October 2nd, 2017
Parks Kendall Lackey, 95, husband of 71 years to Rosada Bowman Lackey, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 2, 2017. He was born in Alexander County, North Carolina. He was a WWII Army Veteran, slogged his way across the Philippine Islands, and was part of the Occupation Force in Japan. He was a loving and caring husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He could build or repair just about anything mechanical or electrical. He loved to travel and had visited all 50 States and some of Europe. He was a longtime retiree from Celanese Corporation and a 32nd degree Mason. Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a son Richard (Judith) of Greenville, South Carolina and a daughter, Alice Kilby (Derwin) of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina; grandson David Lackey and granddaughters, Jessica Keiser and Heather Jordan. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren, Aidan and Evie Jordan and Kendall Keiser. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 at St. Andrews Methodist Church at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Dan Hester officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, prior to the service, in the Commons Area across from the Sanctuary. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrews Methodist Church; 1901 Archdale Drive, Charlotte, NC 28210 Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service of Charlotte is entrusted with the care of Mr. Lackey and his family.
