Patricia Pat Amundsen was born on September 8, 1927 in Seattle, WA to William and Hazel ODay. Pat spent her early years in the White Center area of Seattle until her Fathers untimely passing at which time her Mother moved her and her five siblings, Helen, Betty, Bill, Mary and Eileen to Capitol Hill. There the family bought a large home two doors down from the parish of St. Joseph and her Mother cooked, cleaned and did the laundry for the parish priests. She also took in boarders to help make ends meet. Pat married Jack Amundsen on October 3, 1953 and they settled in to the suburb of Richmond Beach. There they had four children, Dan, Teri, Jim and Carol and became very involved with the parish of St. Lukes. CYO sports became a large part of their lives with Jack coaching his boys and Pat cheering them on from the stands. Camping and the outdoors were also an important part of the Amundsen family lives. Although not a fan of sleeping on the ground in a tent, Pat was a real trooper and Dad eventually went all out and bought a tent trailer making our family camping trips a little easier on Mom. Pat lost her husband Jack in November of 1985 after an extended illness. She filled her days working at the Bon Marche at Northgate retiring in 1987 with 16 years of service. Once retired, Pat never slowed down. She traveled the world with her girlfriends visiting Ireland, Italy, Germany, and Norway, The Caribbean, Mexico and almost every state in the United States. She also enjoyed volunteering at St Lukes making sandwiches every Wednesday for the homeless shelters in Seattle. Pats true zest for life and pride and joy were her seven grandchildren. She loved every minute she spent with them and would talk about them to anyone who would listen. She was so proud of the young adults they had become and truly enjoyed hearing about what was going on in their lives. She was also overjoyed with the birth of her two Great Grandchildren, Ella Shea born in July of 2013 and Logan James born just one week before Moms passing. Pat spent the last year living at The Edmonds Landing Retirement Home where she made many new friends. She loved living there and enjoyed all the wonde activities and staff members never missing the Friday night social hour. Pats outlook on life was upbeat, positive, never complaining and always seeing the glass not just half full but spilling over. She truly made lemonade out of lemons. Pat leaves behind her children Dan (Kathy), Teri (Don), Jim (Lisa) and Carol as well as her seven grandchildren, Jennifer Selliken (Dion), Jessica Fitz Patrick (Brian), Christine Reynolds (Kevin), Nicole Larkin (Brad), and John, Mitchell and Kaitlyn Amundsen and her two great grandchildren Ella Shea Fitz Patrick and Logan James Reynolds. Pat will be missed but very much celebrated! Announcement: In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish Co., 2731 Wetmore Ave. Suite 500, Everett, WA 98201
