With 36 years of exemplary service, Pat retired from the Swedish Medical Center as Vice President Nursing Administrative and Support Services in 2007.

The following statements are excepted from Patricia’s collections of personal memoirs.  What is consistent among these comments demonstrates a highly competent and motivated musing administrator.

Pat began her career as an evening critical-care charge nurse at Ballard Hospital in 1970.  Upon the merger of Swedish and Ballard, she became part of nursing administration and the Senior Leadership Team.  With this merger she served in numerous leadership capacities.  She served as the first co-chair on the National Board of the Healthcare Career Advancement Program (HCAP) and led Swedish to its first HCAP graduation class of nurses.

In her some 40 years of experience over a wide range of clinical operations and administrative positions, Pat forged strong relationships with the trust of her many colleagues and assisted staff members to achieve desired outcomes n the work environment, and at that time demonstrated a strong sense of caring, recognition, knowledge and support, always striving to inspire the best in others. This leadership quote described her capabilities perfectly – “Leadership is the ability to get extraordinary achievement from ordinary people”.
