To live in hearts we leave behind is to never die - Thomas Campbell Patricia Baker, 69 of Phoenix, Arizona passed away at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at her daughter's residence after battling cancer. She was born on January 19, 1951 in Ypsilanti, Michigan, the oldest daughter of Wendell and Sue Horne. As a child, Patricia moved with her family to Springfield, Ohio where she graduated high school and had her first two children. Survivors include her significant other of 35 years, Bobby Olson; three loving daughters, Kishia (Jennifer) Brock, Heather Brock (Mark Noble), and Elicia (Zack) Akers; eight grandchildren Ashlyn Varner, Olivia Brock Ludicello, Grace Freed, Makenzie, Savanna, Katlen, Destany, and Zachary Jr. Akers; her sister, Carolyn Payne, close friend, Karen Dunn, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Wendell Horne Jr. Ms. Baker began her career as a pharmacist technician, however, as a hard worker and dedicated mother she often worked a second or third job to support her family. Eventually, Patricia found her calling as everyone's favorite neighborhood bartender. Her welcoming smile and open, warm heart made everyone feel at home and understood. Throughout her life, Patricia always wanted the best for her children. She passed them her strong work ethic, open heart and mind, and curious soul. Once her children became adults, Patricia kept them close as friends and confidants, enjoying brunch with Kishia and Jen, going on adventures and vacations with Heather and spending time at home with Elicia and her grandchildren, talking, laughing, watering the outside plants and cooking together. Retired, Patricia, an animal lover, lived with her partner, four dogs and one cat (and an occasional rescued bird) on an acre of land in South Phoenix covered with large pistachio trees. She loved sitting outside listening to the wind blow through the trees, talking with her grandchildren, reading a mystery, playing pool, and most of all watching movies. Her smile and warmth will be missed by all who love her! To celebrate Patricia's life, please comment, add a photo, or share your favorite memory.
