“We will all be together in heaven"

Patricia Ann (Check) Christoffersen, beloved mother, grandmother, wife, aunt, and dear friend, passed away in her Edmonds, Washington home with her loved ones on the afternoon of June 1st, 2024. She was 70 years old.

Patricia Christroffersen was born on May 24, 1954 to Virginia Ann (Eak) Check and Raymond Paul Check in Rahway, New Jersey. Patricia was the elder sister of three younger brothers: Michael Raymond Check, John Joseph Check, and Joseph John Check. As a child, Patricia loved to play with her dolls and tried her best to avoid the antics of her brothers. She went to Woodbridge Senior High School and graduated in 1972.

At the age of 19, Patricia married Arthur Carl Christoffersen on July 14, 1973 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Woodbridge, New Jersey. They enjoyed their newlywed years in Brooklyn, New York before moving back to Woodbridge, New Jersey. On September 10, 1979, she gave birth to her first son, Eric Christian Christoffersen. Three years later on September 23, 1982, Patricia gave birth to her second son, Kurt Edward Christoffersen. In 1983, she moved to Roxbury Township, New Jersey with her family and became involved in cub scout programs including being a Den Mother with her two boys and other neighborhood children. She also became one of the leaders of the Pioneer Club at Hillside Lutheran Church. On October 20, 1986, she gave birth to her third child and daughter, Katrina Elizabeth Christoffersen.

Patricia moved with her family to Agoura Hills, California in 1995. While in California, she obtained her Bachelors in Religion from California Lutheran University and earned a Director of Christian Education Ministry credential from Concordia University. She started and ran the Pioneer Club for Redeemer Lutheran Church of Thousand Oaks.

Later in 2001, Patricia moved with her family to Las Vegas, Nevada to take up the position of Director of Christian Education for Lamb of God Church. While in Las Vegas, she received her Masters in Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in 2006. Afterwards, she became an elementary school teacher, a profession she loved as teaching children brought great joy and meaning to her life. During her time in Las Vegas, her granddaughter Rebecca Rose Christoffersen was born on August 29, 2011.

After over a decade in Las Vegas, Patricia moved with her family to Edmonds, Washington in 2013. She continued teaching elementary school until she retired in June 2016.

Throughout her life, Patricia followed the teachings of Jesus Christ and held a deep faith for our Heavenly Father. Her religious beliefs were a guiding light for her in all her endeavors. Patricia also loved traveling, taking care of her family and spending time with friends. She loved researching her family history and cooking traditional meals from her Hungarian background. She was a kind hearted person with a great sense of humor. Patricia also spoke French, which she learned during her high school days and had traveled throughout Europe.

In 2020, Patricia was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Although Patricia had been in remission for four years, the cancer unfortunately returned and had metastasized and she was unable to benefit from further treatment. Patricia passed away surrounded by her family. A loving and caring soul with a hilarious sense of humor, Patricia was deeply loved and she will be dearly missed.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Arthur Chrirstoffersen; her son, Eric Christoffersen; her son and his wife, Kurt and Maria Chirstoffersen; her daughter, Katrina Christoffersen; her granddaughter, Rebecca Christoffersen; her brother and his wife and children: Michael, Mary, Amy, and Christine; her brother’s wife and his children: Dana, Matthew, and Alexandra; her brother and his wife and children, Joseph, Michelle, Molly, and Raymond; and Patricia’s two playful cats, Kiki and Miley. Patricia is preceded in passing by her brother John Check, who passed away in 2017.
