Patricia Kay Hanson

June 9th, 1939 - September 18th, 2022

PATRICIA KAY KNIEFEL HANSON June 9, 1939 – September 18, 2022 Patty was welcomed into the arms of Jesus from her home in Gladstone, Oregon, after a fall resulting in a broken arm, and causing other health issues. Patty was born and raised in McVille, North Dakota where she attended and graduated from McVille High School. She married Norman Hanson on November 11, 1955 in Grand Forks, North Dakota at Calvary Lutheran Church, where they became members. Patty and Norm moved to Portland, Oregon in October 1967. They raised four daughters—three were born in North Dakota and one in Oregon. Patty was employed in secretarial jobs during her working years which included a title company, two hospitals, and retiring in 2003 from Oregon Liquor Control Commission after 16-plus years. The family moved to Gladstone in 1968 and to Oakridge Drive in 1976. Patty enjoyed attending church, reading, singing, playing piano, cooking, baking, family gatherings, board games, card games, and the Seattle Mariners baseball team. Norm and Patty enjoyed RVing for many years also. Patty and Norm hosted many family gatherings in their Gladstone home. Patty was an only child, but was welcomed into Norm’s family of three sisters, their spouses, and their children. They were members of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Gladstone, King of Kings in Milwaukie, and finally Living Savior in Tualatin. Patty was predeceased by most of her family, including Norm in December 2012 and his sister Eileen in August 2021. Her last four weeks of life were assisted by Providence Hospice and caregivers Daniel Alonso and Georgette Charlie Darabant from Circle of Care. Patty is survived by daughters: Susan Murnane (Kevin), Sandra Johnson (Colin), Gayle Asche (David passed in August 2017), and Nanci Lucas (James). Grandchildren: Keith Asche, Adrian Lucas, and Sara Murnane. Patty has one surviving cousin, Richard Amundson, and a second cousin, Pamela Loh (both in California). She is also survived by Norm’s sisters: Donna Septon (Don passed in April 2022) and Connie Grimm (Gary), and nieces and nephews Scott, Ken, Dan, Debbie, Gary, and Sara and their families. Services will be on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Living Savior Lutheran Church, 8740 SW Sagert Street, Tualatin, OR 97062. There will be a luncheon at the church following the service.
