Patricia Elizabeth McHugh Lucey Resident of Lafayette Patricia passed away peacefully on January 3, 2011, with her family by her side. Born September 16, 1923, in Oakland and a long time resident of Lafayette, she spent the last four years of her life in Visalia, California. She was 87 years old. She will be dearly missed by her beloved husband of 54 years, Denis Patrick Lucey, Sr., whom she met at an Irish picnic, and together they shared and celebrated their Irish-Catholic heritage throughout the years. Patricia's kindness, wisdom, determination and love will be forever remembered by her children: Denis Lucey, Jr., of Santa Rosa, and his children, Bridget, Patrick, and Megan; Jim (Serena) Lucey of Vancouver, Washington, and their daughters, Gabrielle and Natalie; Maureen (Mark) Fisher of Visalia and their children, Connor, Iain, and Caitlin; and Patty (Rob) Johnson of Walnut Creek and their children, Meredith, Grant, and Everett. She is also survived by her younger brother, James McHugh, and was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas, Jack, and Richard, and parents, Patrick and Bridget (Lizzie) McHugh. Patricia attended St. Elizabeth Elementary and High School in Oakland where she met so many lifelong friends. She was active in the Young Ladies' Institute and St. Mary's Immaculate Guild. She enjoyed traveling with her family and her dear friend, Theresa Coyne, playing bridge, spending time with her family and friends, and most of all being a grandmother. Her keen sense of humor and warm laugh enriched the lives of those who knew her. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, as well as a faithful Catholic and loyal Oakland A's fan. Patricia will be greatly missed. Family and friends are invited to attend a Rosary Service Friday, January 7th at 5 pm at Oak Park Hills Chapel, 3111 N. Main Street, Walnut Creek. A Catholic Mass celebrating her life will be held Saturday, January 8th at 11 am at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 1101 Keaveny Ct., Walnut Creek. Burial is to follow immediately after at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1965 Reliez Valley Road, Lafayette. Memorial donations may be made to St. Elizabeth Catholic High School in Oakland.
