Obituary Patricia Susanne Patterson Born August 19, 1939 Died January 30, 2016 Patricia Patterson, a loving wife, Mom, Grandma, Nana, GG, friend, scrapbook enthusiast, Denver Bronco fan, Matriarch, and role model, left this world for a more peaceful resting place. On January 30th, 2016 at 6:37am, at the age of 76, she succumbed to complications brought on following open-heart surgery. Her family is holding an open house/celebration of life potluck on Saturday February 6, 2016 from 12:30-3:30pm at the HBA conference rooms (4585 Hilton Pkwy, Colorado Springs, CO 80907) to honor Patricia by doing one of the things she enjoyed most, spending time with family and good friends. It is open to anyone who would like to remember the life and love of such a wonderful, strong woman. Pat was born Patricia Susanne Eiklor on August 19, 1939 in Rockford, Illinois. She was the oldest of three children and spent most of her younger childhood in Illinois before moving to Arizona where she would live until her early adult life. When Pat was 16, she met her future husband, Ralph Eugene Patterson in a Dairy Queen. She knew right away that he would change her life when she saw his blue eyes. She told her friends 'I'm going to marry that man.' A year later on July 21, 1956 Ralph and Patricia were married. Their love would continue to grow with the arrival of their children Teresa, Peggy (John), Mark (Sarah), their eight grandchildren, Eli (Mariah), Ben (Amanda), Katharine, Cori (Dan), Ashley (Cori), Kayla, Austin, and Ralph, and their eight great grandchildren, Daniel, Kloie, Justyn, Caden, Brittani, Molly, Danika, and Zaida (Baby Girl). They had 55 years full of laughter, trust, partnership and more love than most people know in a lifetime. They spent most of their later years together traveling across the country in their motor home and making memories. Then in 2012, Ralph passed away due to complications brought on by a heart attack at the age of 75. His passing left a hole in Pat's life that would never be filled. Pat spent her entire life being devoted to her family. She lovingly raised and influenced not only her children but her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was in every sense of the word, the Matriarch of the family and the glue that brought people together. She was an incredibly kind and accepting woman who welcomed everyone. She 'adopted' many more people as her 'grandchildren' so that dozens more called her Grandma. When asked on her 75th birthday what was the coolest thing she's ever done in her life, she smiled and said that it was all the time she ever spent with her family. Pat loved scrapbooking and would make scrapbooks to give to the family. One of her favorite pastimes was cheering on her softball team. The team that Ralph played for was re-christened 'Ralph's Boys' after his death. Every Sunday during softball season would find Pat at the softball fields cheering louder than anyone and telling the boys that they better play their best. And they did. Mostly because Grandma Pat was watching and they'd never hear the end of it if they didn't. Pat was an amazing woman. She was always there for whoever needed her. She had an enormous heart that was open to everyone. She had an amazing strength and a certain knack for being stubborn. Words cannot express how much she will be missed by all who knew her. Our lives will never be the same but we take comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with the love of her life to continue their story. Thank you Pat, for the mark you have left on our lives and never forget, We Love You THIIIS Much. Services Funeral Service
