Patricia C. Reed
January 23rd, 1924 - July 25th, 2013
Patricia Catherine Reed was born on January 23, 1924 in New York City. She passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on July 25, 2013 at Woodside Hospice House after a valiant fight with breast cancer for over a year. In 1946, Mrs. Reed moved to Florida from the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, NY and was married to Gordon M. Reed for 53 years until his death in 2000. He was a Captain on the St. Petersburg Fire Dept. Mrs. Reed owned and operated two beauty salons in St. Petersburg. She bought her first salon, Lee's Beauty Box, when she was just 23 years old. After selling that salon, she started Pat Reed's Beauty Salon. She loved her craft and her customers and continued in the hairdressing field until she retired at the age of 78. Mrs. Reed is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Porter, and was lovingly known as "Nonnie" by her grandson Gregory Porter and his wife Christina of Clearwater, and granddaughter Laurel Porter O'Brien and her husband John O'Brien of Freehold N.J. Mrs. Reed is also survived by her four great grandchildren: Greyson Porter, and Jack, Liam and Katherine O'Brien, who was named after her Great-Grandmother, and her sister Jackie Palladino of St. Petersburg. Mrs. Reed's life revolved around her family; she loved and was loved in return. While Patricia requested there be no service on her behalf, contributions can be made in her memory to Suncoast Hospice. Patricia spent her last days in the loving arms of her family who will be eternally grateful for the compassionate and heartfelt care she received from the staff and nurses at Woodside Hospice
