Patricia Mary Van Overmeiren
January 24th, 1937 - August 20th, 2024
Patricia M. Van Overmeiren, 87, passed away on August 20, 2024 at an assisted living facility following a long illness. Pat was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 24, 1937 to Irish parents, Edward and Mary Hayes, and raised in the city alongside her 5 siblings - Edward, James, Marilyn, Jeannie, and Sharon. She and Robert L Van Overmeiren were married on October 12, 1957 and later moved to Bolingbrook, Illinois in 1963 where they raised their two sons, Mark and Robert. The couple lived there for 54 years until their move to Phoenix, Arizona in 2017.
Patricia was a house wife for several years before going back to the workforce to serve long tenures at Johnson & Johnson in Chicago and Little Friends in Naperville. As she and Robert Sr. were active members of the local bowling league, she enjoyed working as a bowling instructor in her free time. She was a lifelong Frank Sinatra fan who loved to listen to and collect his records. Other favorite past times were visiting with family, cooking, reading, crossword puzzles, and crocheting. She loved to watch football (go Bears!), Perry Mason, Jeopardy!, and Svengoolie, tend to her rose garden in Bolingbrook, and make recipes from one of the many cookbooks in her collection. She will be remembered for her strength and sense of humor even in tough situations, her quick wit, her encyclopedic knowledge, and her care for her loved ones.
Patricia is survived by her sister Sharon, son Robert, grandchildren Mark, Robert, Eric, Nicole, Steven, great-grandchildren Owyn, Evan and Isabella, cousins Maryann and James, brother-in-law John and daughters-in-law Jacqueline and Darlys. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
