Patrick Gerard Normandin

Obituary Patrick Gerard Normandin was born on December 31, 1955, to his parents, Howard and Ann Roddy Normandin, who raised 4 boys & 4 girls in their home in Whittier, California. Their Irish Catholic faith was a strong part of their upbringing & Pat remained a faithful Catholic and embodied his faith throughout his life. Pat moved to Colorado in 1978 on a whim. He was in line for Loyola College registration in California & something told him to step away. A friend was driving to Fort Collins, so he caught a ride. He worked at Bachman Lumber when he first arrived, then started his own business Normandin Landscape. His first job as he put it was picking up diapers in the Kmart parking lot with his hippie van, which had no doors. He then moved on to larger projects which included Foothills Fashion Mall, Scotch Pines and the Anhueser Busch Brewery. He took care of the AB grounds for 17 years. After that, he came back to the Brewery, but worked with a small crew at the Tour Center, which was his work home for the last 10 years. Pat loved to travel and saw many foreign countries in his twenties. Pat met Kim, his wife of 30 years, at a Pole Creek golf tournament. They were reintroduced at a bbq a year later by a mutual friend and their first date was a Rockies (Bears) baseball game in 1988. They played volleyball, softball & golf together & eloped in January of 1991 on a trip to Hong Kong. They bought their lovely home near City Park and raised two sons, Sean & Casey (along with many of their friends!). They also raised the comedy team of three Corgis: Jackson, Olive & Jackie there . Many wonderful mornings were spent enjoying coffee in the sun room, then walking the Corgis to the park & beyond to City Park Golf Course. Pat also had an incredible love of the outdoors/mountains & enjoyed camping with brothers, sons, in-laws (and sometimes his wife!) so he could do what he coined dirty devil (skinny dip) a true mountain man! Pat loved snowboarding & taught his sons - it was a family activity enjoyed for many years. Pat also had a love of history and read as many historical biographies as he could & was a great help to his boys in history class! Pats true passion was baseball, which started by going to Dodger baseball games as a child with his father Howard andeventually included "weasel baseball" at Coors Field.He coached his sons from tee ball through their teenage years. He also umpired baseball for several years before coaching high school baseball at Poudre. His knowledge of pitching, mainly from watching, reading & studying, became a tool he would put to great use. The last several years he was a pitching coach for Triple Crown Colorado team and this was something he truly loved. The month previous to his passing he traveled to tournaments in Albuquerque, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Denver & Colorado Springs with this team and was truly in his element. Even larger than his love for baseball was his caring & compassion for the players. He had a unique and everlasting relationship with every player he coached. He had the ability to relate to them on a personal level. His heart will remain with his players for the rest of their lives. He had unfulfilled hopes of writing a book about coaching entitled Give Me Nine Orphans!. Pat was a very loving & caring father, husband and coach. He lit up a room with his sense of humor, his smile and his gift of understanding & comforting. He will be greatly missed by friends, teammates and family. Pat is survived by: Kim (wife), Sean & Casey Normandin (sons), Mary (sister), Bruce (husband) & Leann Freeman, Sheila (sister), Steve (husband) & Gregory, Patrick (PJ) & Maureen Wiley, Tom (brother), Mary (wife) & Brian, Nick & Dylan Normandin, Sammie & Alex Segal & granddaughter Emma, Joanne (sister), Dave (husband) & Alana Buto, Monica (sister), Frank (husband), Erin Caliri, Erin & Alex Wilk & grandaughter Cora, Greg (brother) Tiffany (wife) & Ciara, Makena Normandin, Michael (brother), Mary (wife) & Emily, Brigette & Wolfgang Kaiser. A mass at Saint Joseph Church will be held on Friday, September 10th at 2:00 pm, followed by a celebration of life party at the Anheuser Busch Tour Center Beirgarten at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Saint Joseph Church, Triple Crown Sports or you can plant a tree in Pats name!
