Paul Ingmar Anderson
May 4th, 1930 - October 10th, 2015
Paul Ingmar Anderson, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2015 following a battle with cancer. He was 85 years of age. Paul was born May 4, 1930 in International Falls, Minnesota to John and Brita (Betty) Anderson. He graduated in 1949 from Falls High School. As a young man he opted to serve his country, joining the U S Air Force in 1951 after employment at the Boise Cascade Lumber Mill in International Falls. While in the USAF Paul was a pilot \ navigator in both the Korean and Vietnam theaters for 20 years, retiring as a Major on August 1, 1971. He retired from the 319th Bombardment Wing, SAC in Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota after serving his entire military career with honor and distinction. Pauls first home as a child was on Rainy Lake in Rainer, Minnesota. In that area he grew to love fishing (both lake and ice fishing), game hunting, reading, hockey, snow-mobiling, flying and skiing as well as clock repair as hobbies. He was well traveled, visiting air bases all over the globe from deployed bases in Tachikowa AFB in Tokyo, Japan, McChord (JBLM) AFB in Pierce County and Grand Forks AFB in North Dakota. Paul retired from active service and returned to the Tacoma area in 1980 to be near his children, grandchildren and great-grand-children until his death. Paul was preceded in death by parents John and Brita Anderson, his brother George A. Anderson and his daughter Tracey L. Anderson. He is survived by his son David B. Anderson of Rushville, Illinois, daughters Kristin (Stephen) Crabtree of Buckley, Elizabeth (Donny) Stewart of Eatonville, Washington and grand-children Douglas Rick, Daniel Rick, Paul Martin, Kennith Martin, Cassea Anderson, Emmanuel Anderson and great-grandchildren Micah Kim and Annalise Martin. The family gratefully acknowledges both the Hospice Medical team at the Tacoma Veterans Hospital and Franciscan Hospice team in Tacoma for their gentle and loving care of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Graveside services will be at Tahoma National Cemetery accompanied by an Honor Guard on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 1 PM. Address is 18600 SE 240th St, Kent, WA 98042.
