"Palmer - Paul L. Brouillette, 82, passed away on May 17, 2018. Born February 15, 1936 in Palmer, he was the son of Henry and Albina Brouillette. As a lifelong resident of Palmer, Paul attended Palmer Schools and was an athlete in high school, participating in basketball, football and track. As a member of the Palmer Package Softball Team, he was a member of the founding group that built and operated the Sanderson McLeod Softball Field. He enjoyed great times there with his buddies. As an avid sports enthusiast his entire life, Paul supported local youth teams, was a basketball referee, and assisted with the youth football program and Punt, Pass and Kick. He coached Little League Baseball and in later years coached girl's basketball for his granddaughter. He will forever cheer on his beloved Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots and Bruins teams. Paul was also a lifelong member of AMVETS Post 74. He passionately served the Lion's Club for 3 decades. He was President of the Palmer Lion’s Club and served as District Governor for District 33A. He was later on the State Council and the MA Lion's Eye Research Foundation. Paul always felt grateful and blessed for the many friendships he made through Lionism. Though involved in many local youth programs in his lifetime, Operation Friendship and youth sports were his favorites. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 59 years, Virginia (Crandell) as well as his daughter Brenda Brouillette of Palmer and son, Paul H. Brouillette and wife Ellen of Brimfield. He also leaves his granddaughter Amber King Sterner and husband Tim, great granddaughters Gianna and Gabriella Sterner as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother, Arthur and sister, Lorraine Chaffee. The family wishes to thank Wing Memorial Doctors and staff who for many years provided great care and compassion to Paul. Also the staff at Porchlight VNA and Homecare for their outstanding care. Visitation will be Thursday, May 24 from 11:30-12:30 with a service to begin at 12:30 p.m. all at the Second Congregational Church. Burial will be private.
