"Palmer - Paul J. Cormier, Sr., 56, of Thorndike St. passed away on August 3, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. Born in Framingham on August 30, 1957, he is the son of Francis and Helen (Dolan) Cormier of Hopedale. Paul grew up in Hopedale and lived his life in the eastern MA area before coming to Palmer 9 years ago. He proudly served his country in the US Army and for the past many years worked as a Journeyman Roofer at Roofers local 33 out of Stoughton, MA. In his leisure, "Poppa C", as he was lovingly called, took much enjoyment in fishing, kayaking, watching the all the Boston sports teams and gardening. His greatest love was being with his family. Besides his parents, he will be greatly missed by his wife, Joyce Cormier along with his four children, Heather, Paul Jr., Joseph Cormier, and Zakaria Zegarzewski along with the light of his life, his grandson Felix Denfeld. He also leaves his siblings, Francis Cormier, Michael Cormier, John Cormier, Mary Whittaker, Thomas Cormier, and Lisa Dec, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Paul was preceded in death by sister, Kathleen White, and brother, James Cormier. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Friends and family may gather between 9-9:15 a.m. on Friday for a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
